The more you make this recipe, the more that your family is going to keep requesting it over and over again. Because even though it’s “just meatloaf”, it’s absolutely a meatloaf dish that is created in a way that no one else has ever tried before.
What Is The Secret Ingredient In This Barbecue Turkey Meatloaf?
You’re ready for me to spill the beans already? Okay, I will! The added ingredient in this turkey meatloaf that takes this recipe from good to great is crushed up French’s Fried Onions. Can you believe it? I was skeptical at first too, but trust me – I’ve made this recipe a dozen times and every single it comes out perfectly cooked. Totally comfort food at its best!
Can You Add Other Vegetables Into This Meatloaf Recipe?
You can try it! I love adding in the shredded carrots because it gives my family a boost of healthy foods that they need but you could also experiment with chopped celery as well. Just be certain that whatever vegetables you’re wanting to have added in, you need to have them chopped up very tiny so it doesn’t take away from the texture of this dish.
What Side Dishes Go Well With Meatloaf?
While meatloaf might be a total meal in itself, I always like to pair it up with some homemade garlic bread or even a nice side salad. Or you can make it a totally hearty meal and add in some mashed potatoes and gravy as well. And, one of the best parts of making meatloaf (if there is any left) is having leftovers for meatloaf sandwiches, always a favorite in our house. Below you’ll find different links to pair up your turkey meatloaf dinner with breads, salads and side dishes.
Is Turkey Meat Better Than Ground Beef?
If you’re asking about the taste, this is a personal preference. Some people don’t like the flavor of beef and actually like that turkey is a more subtle taste and flavor to cook with. In addition to taste, it’s also a lot less fat than ground beef or even lean ground beef. You can easily substitute turkey into any beef recipe to cut down on the fat grams of your recipes.

How Do You Store Leftover Meatloaf?
I have to admit, I’m a fan of leftover meatloaf. It’s just something that just keeps getting better and better each and every day! The easiest way to store leftover meatloaf is to add it to a glass container with a lid and store it in the fridge. Also, wrapping the leftovers in foil works too. I also recommend eating it within 48 hours or so after cooking.
Another reason that I think you should store leftovers in a glass container is that using plastic containers often leaves them smelling of whatever food was in them for forever. Later on down the road when you’re using that plastic storage container to store a piece of cake, you probably don’t want the smell of meatloaf in there with it right? This is why glass storage containers always tend to be a better idea.
Now that you know my meatloaf secrets, it’s time to whip up this delicious recipe on your own. It’s one of the easiest meatloaf recipes that you’ll find and I can assure you that you’re going to love the taste and flavor!
