Homemade Cherry Filling Recipe

This homemade cherry filling is made with fresh, juicy, sweet cherries. A perfect cherry filling that you can use to top pancakes, waffles and crepes with and it’s a delicious topping for cheesecakes, pound cakes and brownies too.

Have you been craving cherries? We sure have and with summer right around the corner, this cherry filling is also great for topping brownies as well. So many ways to use this homemade cherry filling and these are just a few. .

How To Make Homemade Cherry Filling

  • Rinse, cut cherries in half and remove the seeds and stems.
  • Place the cherries in a small sauce pan and add sugar, water and lemon juice.
  • Cook over low/medium heat and bring to a boil.
  • Let cherries boil for about 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Mix 3 tablespoons of water with corn starch and add to pan.
  • Once cherry mixture has thickened, remove from heat.
  • Serve warm over pancakes, waffles or crepes or let cool and top cheesecakes, pound cakes, brownies, etc.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups fresh Bing cherries, halved, pitted
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup + 3 Tbsp water, divided
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tbsp corn starch

Two slices of breakfast pizza on a white plate.
6 tomatillos 4 jalapenos, stems removed 3 serranos, stems removed 2 cloves garlic, roasted ¼ onion ¼ cup water 2 teaspoons salt 2 avocado, diced ⅓ cup cilantro In a medium saucepan, add oil and heat over medium heat. Add garlic cloves and roast until soft. Remove and add to blender or Vitamix. In the same saucepan, add tomatillos, jalapenos, serranos and onion. Cover with cold water and bring to a boil over medium high heat until soft and the color has changed to a pale green. Remove tomatillos and continue boiling the peppers until pale green, if needed. Drain water, reserving ¼ cup. Add the cooked ingredients, salt and ½ cup water. Blend until combined and smooth. Lastly, add avocados and cilantro and blend until smooth. Serve with your favorite chips or top tacos, burritos, beef, chicken or your favorite Mexican recipes.
A wire rack with 15 iced oatmeal cookies on it.
