A rustic wood surface with all the ingredients placed on it to make peach pretzel dessert.
  • Pretzels: Add a buttery, salty crunch that balances the sweetness of the filling and topping.
  • Fresh Peaches: Bring juicy, sweet fruit flavor and give the dessert its fresh, summery taste.
  • Cream Cheese: Creates the rich, creamy middle layer and adds a slight tang that keeps the dessert from being overly sweet.
  • Cool Whip: Lightens the cream cheese layer, making it fluffy, smooth, and easy to spread.
  • Butter: Holds the pretzel crust together and gives it a rich, buttery flavor.
  • Lemon Juice: Brightens the peach filling and enhances the natural fruit flavor.
  • Cornstarch: Thickens the peach topping so it sets nicely and doesn’t make the dessert runny.

Variations

  • Change the Fruit: Use your favorite fruits to make variations such as strawberry pretzel dessert, raspberry pretzel dessert, blackberry pretzel dessert, and mixed berry pretzel dessert.

Step 6: Cover and chill for at least 4 hours. Enjoy!

Expert Tips

  • Cool the crust completely. Adding the cream cheese layer to a warm crust can cause the filling to melt and become runny.
  • Fresh peaches provide the best flavor and texture. If using frozen peaches, thaw and drain them first.
  • 4 hours is the minimum chilling time for this dessert. Chilling overnight is even better!
  • Run hot water over a sharp knife before slicing for clean cuts.

Peach Pretzel Dessert FAQs

What is peach pretzel dessert?

Peach pretzel dessert is a layered dessert made with a buttery pretzel crust, a sweet cream cheese filling, and a homemade peach topping. It’s a summer-inspired twist on classic strawberry pretzel salad, combining sweet, salty, creamy, and crunchy textures in every bite.

Can I make peach pretzel dessert ahead of time?

Yes! This dessert is actually better when made ahead. Preparing it the day before serving allows the layers to set properly and gives the flavors time to blend together.

How long does peach pretzel dessert need to chill?

For the best texture and clean slices, refrigerate the dessert for at least 4 hours. Overnight chilling is even better and helps the layers firm up completely.

Can I use frozen peaches instead of fresh peaches for fillings?

Can I use canned peaches instead of fresh peaches for fillings?

Yes. Canned peaches can be used if fresh peaches aren’t available. Drain them well before using and reduce the added sugar slightly if the peaches are packed in syrup.

Why is my pretzel crust falling apart?

A crumbly crust is usually caused by not mixing the butter thoroughly into the pretzel mixture or not pressing the crust firmly enough into the baking dish. Be sure to evenly coat the pretzels with butter and compact the crust before baking.

How long will peach pretzel dessert last in the refrigerator?

Stored covered in the refrigerator, peach pretzel dessert will stay fresh for up to 4 days.

Can peach pretzel dessert be frozen?

Yes. Individual portions can be frozen in airtight containers for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before serving for the best texture.
