Key Ingredients

You’ll find a full list of ingredients along with their exact amounts in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

A wood surface with all the ingredients needed to make raspberry jalapeno bacon jam on it.
  • Bacon: Crispy, crumbled bacon adds smoky, salty flavor to the jam.
  • Raspberries: Raspberries are sweet and tart, perfectly balancing the other flavors in the jam.
  • Jalapenos: Diced jalapenos add a vegetal flavor and a kick of heat to the jam.
  • Aromatics: Diced garlic and onion add an aromatic flavor.
  • Brown Sugar: Brown sugar adds a bit more sweetness to balance the hot and savory elements.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: This adds an acidic, slightly sweet flavor to the jam.

Variations

  • Berries: You can use any of your favorite berries to create different variations.
  • Other Fruit: Diced fruits such as apples, pears, peaches, or even pineapple create equally tasty variations.
  • In a Spread: Use this jam as an ingredient in dips, as I did with this bacon jam dip with caramelized onions.

How to Make Raspberry Jalapeno Bacon Jam

Step 1: Cook the bacon until very crispy. Then, transfer it to a plate lined with paper towels and pour the grease out of the pan. Crumble.

A saucepan with raspberries and brown sugar in it.

Step 2: Cook the raspberries and sugar in a saucepan until the sugar is fully dissolved.

A cast-iron skillet with onions, diced jalapenos, and garlic in it.

Step 3: Cook the onions and jalapenos in the same skillet as the bacon until the onions are translucent. Then, add the garlic and cook until fragrant.

Step 4: Add the remaining ingredients to the pan and cook until the sauce thickens and becomes jam-like.

Expert Tips

  • Let the bacon cool before crumbling. It will break apart more easily, and you won’t burn yourself!
  • Stir your onion and garlic mixture continuously as you cook to keep the garlic from burning.
  • Stir your sauce occasionally as it simmers to prevent sticking and scorching.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly and NEVER touch your face when handling hot peppers.

Raspberry Jalapeno Jam FAQs

Will raspberry jalapeno jam thicken without pectin?

Yes, it will. The combination of the fruit’s natural pectin and simmering, which reduces the mixture’s moisture, will thicken the jam perfectly.

What to eat with raspberry jalapeno jam?

This jam is perfect with breakfast items like sausage and biscuits, burgers, sliders, main dishes like turkey, beef, or pork, or as an appetizer spread with your favorite crackers.

How long will raspberry jalapeno jam last?

Refrigerate this jam for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container.
