These cheesy jalapeno cream cheese tots are super tasty. Loaded with cream cheese, crispy bacon, two types of shredded cheese, green onions, cilantro, jalapenos and delicious seasoning, then fried until they are golden brown. So delicious and they make the perfect spicy appetizer.
Not only are these tots crunchy, they’re super flavorful. All the ingredients mixed together, along with the crunchy coating, is what makes these little bite-size tots so scrumptious.
These are great to just pop in your mouth. Also, dipped into a sauce of your choice is just as tasty. We love ranch dressing with these cheesy tots.

Seriously, these cheesy jalapeno tots are so tasty. They are a bit on the spicy side, but can easily be made without the spiciness. Just substitute accordingly to your liking.
We adapted these tots from my Cheesy Jalapeno Cream Cheese Dip recipe. I’m always trying new ways to create delicious recipe and goodies from other recipes and this was one of those ideas that definitely was a hit with the family. Little bite-size, pop in your mouth, deliciousness. And my dip recipe is just as delicious.
Try These Delicious Tots Today
- 2 8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened at room temperature
- 1 cup Fage® Total 0%
- 1 cup bacon (approximately 8 strips) fried, crumbled
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup Pepper Jack cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup diced jalapeños, I used the jarred diced jalapeños
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions
- 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp Slap Ya Mama® seasoning
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1-2 cups Panko bread crumbs
- 1½-2 cups vegetable oil
Fry bacon until crispy then place fried bacon on a plate lined with paper towels. Once cool enough to handle, crumble and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese on medium speed until creamy then beat in yogurt until combined.
Add remaining ingredients, stir and chill.
Add flour to a bowl.
Whisk egg and buttermilk together in another bowl.
Place bread crumbs in a third bowl.
In a large frying pan, or cast iron pan, heat oil over medium heat to 350 degrees.
Form about a tablespoon of mixture into the shape of a tater tot.
For each tot, roll in flour, then into the buttermilk mixture and lastly into the bread crumbs.
Place in frying pan and fry tots until golden brown on each side, approximately 2-4 minutes. Remove from oil and place on a plate lined with paper towels.
Serve warm and enjoy!
