10 Favorite Cobblers and Crisps I Have Been Making for Years (Plus the One I Smoke)

Published: Mar 10, 2026 by Terri Weir · · This post may contain affiliate links

I’ve been making cobblers and crisps since I was old enough to help my mom in the kitchen, and over the years, I’ve baked just about every fruit combination you can imagine. There is something about that delicious fruit filling topped with a golden, buttery crust, and a brown sugar pecan topping, or crisp topping that never gets old. Whether it’s a classic apple cobbler for Sunday dinner or a tart and juicy berry crisp for a summer potluck, these desserts are my go-to when I need something easy, delicious, and guaranteed to disappear fast.

10 different cobbler and crisp recipes in a photo collage with the title overlay in the center.

In this roundup of 10 favorite cobblers and crisps, I’m sharing my favorites—the ones I make all the time for family gatherings, holidays, or any time I’m craving something warm and comforting. Some are loaded with fall flavors like apples, and others are packed with juicy summer berries, and one even gets a smoky twist on the grill. If you love easy, crowd-pleasing desserts that taste like home, you’re in the right place! And, the ones that are topped with my signature brown sugar pecan topping are my absolute favorites. A classic cobbler crust topped with the crunchy pecan topping is simply irresistible. I know you will love it too!

1. Caramel Apple Cobbler with Brown Sugar Pecan Crust

This caramel apple cobbler is one of my all-time favorite fall desserts. Sweet, tart apples are mixed with caramel sauce and warm spices, then topped with classic cobbler batter and a crunchy brown sugar pecan topping. It bakes up golden and bubbly, and I always drizzle extra caramel on top before serving.

This fresh peach cobbler is my go-to when summer peaches are at their peak—there’s nothing quite like that sweet, juicy fruit baked until it’s bubbling and jammy. I love that it has a cake-like, cobbler topping that gets golden and crisp in the oven, creating the perfect contrast to all those tender peaches underneath. It’s the kind of dessert that tastes like pure summer, and it’s one I make repeatedly from July through September when peaches are everywhere.

I’ve been making cobblers since I was little, and this version with that sweet, crunchy topping is one I come back to again and again, especially when I want something that feels special enough for company but easy enough for a weeknight. This smoked peach cobbler is for when I want to take my favorite summer dessert to the next level—smoking it instead of baking adds this incredible depth and complexity that you just can’t get in a regular oven. The sweet, crunchy brown sugar pecan topping gets perfectly caramelized on the grill while those peaches turn into the most amazing jammy filling with a hint of smokiness in every bite. This triple berry cobbler is what I make when I can’t decide on just one berry—the combination of blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries creates the most incredible jammy filling with layers of sweet and tart flavors. I love that it has that old-fashioned, cake-like topping that gets perfectly crunchy on top while staying tender underneath, just like the kind my grandma used to make.
