If you’ve never had sour cream apple pie, then you’re missing out. Don’t worry, though, I’m here to change that. If you’ve never had or heard of this dessert before, then it might sound odd a first. Sour cream with apples? In a pie?! I get it. I do. The first time I had this dessert, I was a bit skeptical, but one bite made a believer out of me. This dessert is rich, creamy, sweet, and tangy, and the sweet crumb topping makes the perfect finish to this amazing pie. It’s one of those desserts that seems like an odd duck until you put everything together and finally take a bit. Then, you’re in sweet, sweet pie Heaven.

I’ve been making this pie for years for everything from potlucks and get-togethers to weekend desserts. Growing up, my kids loved to snack on it after school, and if they had their friends over, that pie was gone in a snap. It’s a recipe that’s pretty much at home on any table for any reason, making it a versatile and very easy dish to make for any occasion.

Sour Cream Apple Pie

First things first. We don’t just throw apples and sour cream together. Oh, no. Apples, sour cream, egg, sugar, and vanilla all come together to create a sour cream custard with a tangy, sweet flavor that is absolutely delicious. It’s all poured over a premade pie crust for ease, topped with sliced apples, then it’s topped with a sweet crumb coating and baked to creamy perfection. By the time you’re done, you have a delicious custard pie overflowing with classic apple flavor and a tangy twist that will have your tastebuds hopping. One bite, and you’ll be sold.

What to Serve with Sour Cream Apple Pie

This pie is best when served cold, so whipped cream is the best way to go for a topping. It’s delicious with a nice cup of coffee, as well. This also makes a great dessert after almost any of your favorite meals from grilled meats to pasta and everything in between.
