I love making French toast with Texas toast because it gives the best flavor to the meal. Texas toast is thicker and holds the custard mixture, making this an amazing breakfast or “breakfast for dinner” recipe.

What is Texas French Toast

Texas French Toast is a classic French toast recipe that uses Texas Toast as the bread in the recipe. Texas toast is a thick cut bread that soaks up the custard and stays moist when you make the French toast. By using Texas Toast instead of a traditional loaf of bread, Italian bread or even a loaf of french bread, you are creating a thick, fluffy French toast.

How Long Does French Toast Last

If you have leftovers of this Texas Toast French Toast, you can store it in the refrigerator. Make sure to store it in an airtight container or a freezer bag. The Texas Toast French Toast will last up to 5 days in the refrigerator. It can be moved to the freezer so you can use it whenever you want Texas French Toast.

Can Homemade French Toast Be Frozen

This homemade Texas Style French Toast is perfect to store in the freezer. This way the French toast can be pulled from the freezer whenever you want a simple meal idea. It can be used for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Reheat the Texas French Toast in the toaster or in the microwave.

Why Does French Toast Get Soggy

The biggest reason that French toast gets soggy is because there is too much dairy or egg in the custard. If the bread soaks up too much it will stay wet and give it a soggy taste. When you are cooking the French toast you want the edges to be slightly crisp. This is why Texas Toast makes the perfect bread for French toast because it is ¾” to 1” thick.

What Toppings Can I Add to Texas French Toast

When you make Texas Toast French Toast you can add almost anything to it. Add blueberries or strawberries. Cut up bananas to add on top. Peanut butter makes another great topping to add to your French toast. Peanut butter and chocolate chips make a delicious treat on Teas French Toast. You can add chocolate chips or peanut butter chips. Coconut flakes is another great addition to your French toast. If you prefer a more basic French toast, you can top the French toast with powdered sugar, real maple syrup or whipped cream.

Can This Be Made Into a French Toast Bake

If you wanted to make this into a French toast bake, you can put the bread into a casserole dish and cover it with the custard. Bake the French toast bake until the bread is crispy and the center is cooked through.
