These pulled pork sliders are super flavorful and always a favorite. Each slider is topped with leftover BBQ pulled pork, creamy coleslaw, and crispy fried onions.

Sliders are such a fun meal, don’t you think? These little bite-sized sandwiches or burgers – they can be either, these days – are always tasty, and they make for a great appetizer or meal, depending on the occasion. I’ve been making sliders for a long time for game days, parties of all kinds, and even lunches and dinners. For the most part, they’re usually burgers, but I like to switch things up from time to time and make something a little different. That’s why I’ve decided to share one of my favorite variations with all of you today. It’s these pulled pork sliders!
Pulled Pork Sliders
These delicious sliders are so good, so easy, and such a great way to use up leftover slow cooker pulled pork. I love to make these the day after I’ve made pork shoulder. The meat is already shredded and perfect for these small pork bites. Using that leftover pork, I can quickly make a batch of these sliders for special occasions or simply a fun weeknight dinner.
It all starts with golden, crispy, toasted brioche slider buns. Then I top them with BBQ pulled pork, coleslaw, and crispy fried onions. It all comes together to create a slider that has a variety of textures and flavors that make every bite an explosion of deliciousness in your mouth.
Pulled Pork Sliders Tips and Variations
This is such an easy recipe, but I do have some tips to make it the best it can possibly be. I also have some great ways for you to switch things up if you like.
Tips
- You can make these sliders with fresh or leftover pulled pork. Both are delicious.
- Keep a close eye on your buns when toasting them. You want them golden and crispy, not dark brown and burned.
- I find that brioche buns work best because their flavor and texture stand toe to toe with the bold flavors of the slider filling.
Variations
- Use your favorite flavor of BBQ sauce to change up the flavor of the recipe.
- Try adding your favorite cheese.
- Dill pickles are delicious on these sliders.
- You can make this recipe with leftover shredded chicken or beef, as well.
- Try it provolone, mozzarella, or cheddar cheese.
Pulled Pork Sliders FAQ
If you have questions about these pulled pork sliders, then read on. The following FAQ answers the most commonly asked questions about this recipe.
What cut of pork is best for pulled pork?
Pork shoulder is the ideal cut for pulled pork. It has the best combination of fat and lean meat to create pork that is tender and melty. Pork butt would also work well for pulled pork as well.
What goes well with pulled pork sliders?
These little bites are full of BBQ goodness, so it only makes sense to serve them with BBQ favorites. Some great ideas include:
- Coleslaw
- Baked beans
- Mac and cheese
- French fries
- Baked potatoes
- Pasta salad
- Potato salad
Where do people put coleslaw on pulled pork?
Coleslaw provides a great contrast of crunch and tangy flavor to the soft, sweet BBQ pulled pork.
Where did coleslaw on BBQ originate?
Leonard Heuberger, who founded a barbecue restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee in 1922 is widely credited as being the inventor of putting coleslaw on pulled pork sandwiches.
Why grill buns with mayonnaise instead of butter?
Mayonnaise has a higher smoke point than melted butter, which makes it harder to burn the buns. In addition, mayonnaise makes a richer, golden brown exterior than butter, and some swear by the flavor of using mayonnaise instead of butter.
Can you use pork loin for pulled pork?
While boneless pork shoulder is the king of cuts for pulled pork, you can use pork loin instead. You just have to make sure you cook it properly so that it becomes tender enough to shred while retaining its moisture.
How to Store and Reheat Pulled Pork Sliders
It’s best to store your pulled pork slider ingredients separately rather than storing them together as a sandwich. The meat is the ingredient that has the most limited shelf life, and you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, depending on how old it was before you made your sliders.
To reheat the meat, place it in a saucepan on medium-low heat and cook until heated through.
