Homemade Soft Pretzels
Here is an easy recipe for delicious Homemade Soft Pretzels and one that can be enjoyed over and over when a craving for soft pretzels hit.
I LOVE soft pretzels and to be able to make them fresh, at home, is the best. We have been on a pretzel kick lately with these pretzels and pretzel bites (which I’ll post later). There is just something so delicious about a nice, warm, golden brown, salted pretzel dipped in your favorite dip or sauce.
What Dip Goes Good with Pretzels?
We love to dip our pretzels in whipped cream cheese, then second choice is nacho cheese sauce and then mustard. If you haven’t tried dipping your pretzels in cream cheese yet, you are going to love this way of eating soft pretzels. There is just something about the two flavors together that will have you coming back for seconds. It’s SO GOOD!
How Long Do Soft Pretzels Last?
Homemade soft pretzels will usually last 2-3 days at room temperature. I keep them in a container with a loosely fitting lid. Mainly because we keep getting into the container and they never last more than a day at my house. They can also be stored in a large resealable baggie after they have cooled completely.
Can You Freeze Homemade Pretzels?
Yes, definitely! Once the pretzels have cooled completely, you can add pretzels to a freezer storage bag and place in the freezer for later. And, when you want a pretzel, pull out a baggie, remove pretzel, pop it on a baking sheet and bake for 5 minutes or so at 450° then brush with melted butter for added deliciousness.

Why Do Pretzels Need To Be Dipped In Baking Soda Before Baking?
A baking soda bath is what gives the pretzels their crispy shiny coating, delicious texture and distinctive taste. This is a standard step when making homemade soft pretzels.
