Apple Dessert Recipes
I made this recipe for my daughter to take to her Luau for the school she is teaching at. Not that it was the right choice for a summer luau but it was a hit. Anything caramel, apple and cream cheese is always a hit. I actually doubled the recipe so there would be plenty and everyone loved it.

How To Make A Caramel Apple Crescent Ring
How To Make Apple Filling
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, bring water, cornstarch, sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice to a boil, stirring constantly.
- Continue stirring for 3-4 minutes until sauce thickens up.
- Once sauce has thickened, add apples, stir and let simmer for 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
How To Make The Cream Cheese Filling
- In a medium mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add sugar, egg yolk, vanilla, lemon juice and beat for an additional 2 minutes.
Making The Crescent Ring
- Unroll the crescent dough and separate into the precut triangles.
- Place triangles on an ungreased baking sheet or a pizza pan. The wider end of the crescent is in the center forming the circle with about a 5 inch opening in the center and the smaller tip of the crescent is on the outside. *When forming the circle, the wider ends of the crescents will overlap each other.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the widest part of the crescents.
- Spoon the apple filling on top of the cream cheese mixture.
- Next, fold the small tip of the crescent over and tuck under the wider part of the crescent to secure forming the ring.
- Bake for approximately 20 minutes.
How To Make The Caramel Sauce
- In a small heavy bottom pan, melt butter over low heat.
- Stir in brown sugar and milk.
- Bring to a boil over low heat and continue stirring constantly until desired consistency, approximately 8-12 minutes.
- Remove from heat and add 1 tsp of vanilla. Stir and let cool for a little bit then drizzle over pastry once pastry has cooled.
How To Make The Glaze Drizzle
- Using a one cup measuring cup, pour powdered sugar and milk together and stir until combined (might need more milk/sugar as desired).
- Drizzle glaze over pastry ring, once pastry has cooled, and cut into desired portions.
The total time to cook everything is approximately 45 minutes. That includes making the apple filling, the caramel sauce and baking the crescent ring. This is a bit of work but the end results are sure worth the time spent making this delicious apple dessert recipe.

I love reading your fabulous recipes but sadly, the ingredients often used are not available here. Certainly, there is no such product as Pillsbury crescent rolls. How do I make them? Thanks. Anna
Hi Anna, I’m just curious as to where are you located? If you search “how to make homemade crescent rolls” you should be able to find different bloggers with recipes on how to make them. I hope that helps.
Did you make a video showing how to put together this wonderful cake ring.
Hi Rita, No I haven’t yet. I do have one for my Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish which basically shows how to do it. I hope you enjoy this caramel apple dessert. :)
Thank you so much for the quick response. I will check out cream cheese danish.
Thank you Terri.
You are welcome Rita. :)
sounds good so you put the cream cheese over the dinner rolls already cooked.
Hi Lorita, No, after you lay out the crescents then you would put it on top of those then add the apples on top of the cream cheese mixture. Then fold over the small tip of the crescents and tuck under the larger side. Then bake and after it cools you’ll top it with both drizzles. :)
