When you are looking for an absolutely amazing and easy cranberry recipe, you have to try this incredible Cranberry Apple Crisp. The apple and cranberry make a delicious combination that will be the perfect addition to your holiday baking.

Easy Cranberry Apple Crisp

When it comes to holiday flavors, there is no doubt that cranberry is at the top of the list. When you take the amazing flavor of cranberry and combine it with apple, this cranberry apple crisp becomes something new. If you have not made this cranberry apple crisp yet, you will want to make a double batch this holiday season. One for yourself and one for the rest of the family. Even that might not be enough.

Does this Cranberry Recipe Use Canned Cranberries

When you are making this cranberry apple crisp you want to use fresh cranberries. You will not need to do anything special to the cranberries. You do not want to use cranberry jelly, the type that is often used at Thanksgiving that comes from a can.

Does this Crisp Recipe Have a Crust

This cranberry apple crisp does not have a crust. The fruit is baked in the baking dish. Towards the end of the baking, a crisp topping, using a mixture of butter, brown sugar and flour. This creates a sweet crumble type topping that goes fantastic with sweet and tangy fruit.

How to Serve this Apple Crisp with Cranberries

This apple crisp with cranberries is best when it is still warm from the oven. Serve it with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream for a decadent fruity dessert. The crisp will also taste great once it has cooled and is at room temperature. If you want to serve the apple crisp with cranberries warm after it has warmed, you can heat it in the microwave or in the oven. This will give you the fresh from the oven warm taste that you are craving.

Can this Cranberry Crisp Be Frozen

I love freezing desserts. It is a great way to have my favorite desserts on hand whenever the craving hits. This cranberry crisp will freeze beautifully. You can cut the crisp into individual servings. This will make it easy to remove a small serving and not have to take the entire dessert out at a time.

How to Store This Cranberry Apple Crisp

You want to make sure the cranberry apple crisp is stored in an airtight container. I prefer to keep my fruit crisps in the refrigerator because they are made using fresh fruit. If you store the crisp at room temperature, it will only last a few hours to overnight.

What Type of Apples Should Be Used in This Apple Crisp

You want to use apples that are good for baking in this apple crisp. While there are many types of apples that can be used, I like to use honey crisps. I have found that this is the best apple. You can also use other sweet baking apples. I like sweet apples rather than tart in this recipe because the cranberries are tart.

Yes you can use frozen cranberries. I use them too when I do not have fresh. Just add a little more corn starch. :)

I love all things cranberry, and I also love freezing desserts. I will definitely be making this to put in the freezer. My question is regarding the crispy topping. Can it be successfully frozen after baking, or should I bake and freeze the fruit portion, then add the topping and bake it fresh for serving?

Hi Martha, you can freeze the crisp after it’s made. I like to make individual servings then freeze. If you are not making it to serve right away, I would freeze the topping separate and then add it right before baking.
