Sweet Potato Green Bean Casserole with Smoked Sausage
This delicious and hearty side dish recipe is packed with flavor. Made with tender sweet potatoes, sliced smoked sausage, fresh green beans, onions, garlic and seasonings, then baked. A delicious recipe you are definitely going to love, and it's so easy to make.
Servings: 6 Servings
- 1 pound smoked sausage or Kielbasa sausage, sliced ¼ inch thick
- 1 large sweet potato, peeled and diced into ¾ - 1 inch pieces
- 12 ounce pkg fresh green beans, cut in half
- ⅛ cup vegetable oil or olive oil
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 cup onions, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Slap Ya Mama® seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ⅛ cup water
Preheat the oven to 400° and spray a 9x13 baking dish with a non-stick cooking spray.
Using a large bowl, add sweet potatoes, green beans, oil, Slap Ya Mama® seasoning, garlic powder, pepper and red pepper flakes. Stir to coat.
In a large frying pan or cast iron skillet, add sausage and water. Cook over medium high heat until sausage has browned on both sides and most of the water has evaporated.
Remove sausage from pan and add to large mixing bowl.
Using the same pan, melt butter over medium heat.
Add onions and garlic and cook until onions are translucent, then add to the bowl with the sweet potato mixture.
Lastly, empty the bowl into the prepared baking dish, cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.
Carefully remove from the oven and enjoy!
