Preheat oven to 400°
In a large bowl, add apple slices and fresh cranberries.
In a medium bowl, whisk sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, corn starch and salt together and sprinkle over cranberries and apples. Stir to coat. Let sit for 5 minutes and then stir.
Pour fruit into 9 x 13 baking dish and randomly add sliced butter on top of the fruit.
Place in the oven for 20 minutes. Carefully remove from oven, set aside.
Whisk together flour and brown sugar in a medium bowl.
Using a pastry cutter, cut butter into flour mixture until crumbly.
Cover fruit with crisp topping and place back in the oven and bake for 45 minutes.
Carefully remove from oven and serve with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream or cool whip.
