Chocolate Buttercream Brownies


For The Chocolate Brownies

  • 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks), room temperature
  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup chocolate syrup
  • ½ cup milk
  • Sprinkles
  • Pastel M&Ms

For The Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar, more if needed
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 3-4 Tbsp heavy cream


  1. Preheat oven to 350° and line an 8x8 or 9x9 baking dish with parchment paper and sprayed with a non stick spray.

For The Chocolate Brownies

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.

  2. In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, vanilla and eggs followed by cocoa powder and chocolate syrup.

  3. Gradually beat in flour mixture until smooth. then add milk and beat until combined.

  4. Spread brownie mixture in prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.

  5. Carefully remove from oven and let cool completely before frosting.

For The Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

  1. In a medium bowl, beat butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder and heavy cream until smooth.

  2. Spread buttercream frosting generously over brownies, and top with sprinkles and M&M’s.

  3. Cut into squares and enjoy.
