Cheesy Jalapeno Cream Cheese Tots

For The Cheesy Jalapeno Filling

  • 2 8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened at room temperature
  • 1 cup Fage® Total 0%
  • 1 cup bacon (approximately 8 strips) fried, crumbled
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Pepper Jack cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup diced jalapeños, I used the jarred diced jalapeños
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Slap Ya Mama® seasoning

For The Tot Coating

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1-2 cups Panko bread crumbs
  • 1½-2 cups vegetable oil


For The Cheesy Jalapeno Filling

  1. Fry bacon until crispy then place fried bacon on a plate lined with paper towels. Once cool enough to handle, crumble and set aside. 

  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat cream cheese on medium speed until creamy then beat in yogurt until combined.

  3. Add remaining ingredients, stir and chill. 

For The Tot Coating

  1. Add flour to a bowl.

  2. Whisk egg and buttermilk together in another bowl. 

  3. Place bread crumbs in a third bowl. 

Assembling The Tots

  1. In a large frying pan, or cast iron pan, heat oil over medium heat to 350 degrees.

  2. Form about a tablespoon of mixture into the shape of a tater tot. 

  3. For each tot, roll in flour, then into the buttermilk mixture and lastly into the bread crumbs. 

  4. Place in frying pan and fry tots until golden brown on each side, approximately 2-4 minutes. Remove from oil and place on a plate lined with paper towels. 

  5. Serve warm and enjoy!
