Using a large skillet oven medium heat or electric griddle heat to 350°.
Melt a tablespoon of butter in skillet or on griddle.
In a large shallow bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon together.
Soak the bread one at a time into egg mixture, flip over and soak the other side.
Place about 4 thick slices at a time into pan, or an amount that will fit in the skillet or on the griddle.
Cook until golden brown on both sides, a few minutes per side.
Add the remaining butter, repeat the process and continue until all the bread has been used or egg mixture has been used.
Remove from pan and add toppings of your choice.
Optional: top with butter, maple syrup, brown sugar, powdered sugar.
